I HEAR COLOR
Original painting — Sham Labs Watcher Archive
$1800.00
I Hear Color comes from something I’ve struggled to explain for a long time: I genuinely feel like I can hear color.
Certain sounds don’t stay as sound in my head. They have color, movement, texture, weight. This piece is me trying to pull that experience out of my head and put it somewhere another person can see.
The marks are faster and more instinctive than a lot of my work. Graffiti-like lines move across both panels, colors interrupt each other, forms overlap and disappear. I wasn’t trying to paint an object or illustrate a specific song. I was trying to paint what hearing feels like to me.
The two canvases are separate, but they function as one continuous piece. Almost like the same sound passing through two different moments.
I Hear Color is less about explaining synesthesia and more about documenting the way my own perception works.
Details: Two original 16 × 20 in. panels, approximately 32 × 20 in. combined before spacing, one of one, signed by SHAM, certificate of authenticity included.
