Original Painting — 2026

Executed on a solid wood panel with gallery-depth framing, this work carries a physical presence that reinforces its subject.

This piece marks a moment of acceptance.

For a long time I resisted explaining the work. Collectors kept asking for clarity, and I refused. Eventually the image forced the conversation. What surfaced was this, a confrontation with reality that cannot be softened.

Skull forms emerge and collapse into one another while vertical red drips pierce through the structure. The composition feels less painted because I carved it out of the panel. it took form and was done before I even knew what I was saying layers built slowly until the surface began to resemble something carved.

Even in decay, the figure remains conscious. The red does not represent chaos or violence. Represents the life being drained out of me.

This painting continues Sham’s ongoing exploration of mortality, perception, and the uneasy tension between order and dissolution

this is the first tied to an ongoing private series
